Further Adventures in Search of Perfection

Reinventing Kitchen Classics

Heston Blumenthal

Heston Blumenthal hosted the popular BBC TV series In Search of Perfection and serious foodies sat up and took notice. Here was a chef whose dedication to eating well and breadth of knowledge about the provenance of food brought television up to Michelin standards. Further Adventures in Search of Perfection was written to complement Blumenthal’s second TV series. It dissects eight classic dishes, parsing the ingredients, the culture and the history, as well as showing how to prepare the food and cook it to perfection. The dishes are: Trifle, Baked Alaska, Fish Pie, Hamburger, Peking Duck, Chicken Tikka Masala, Risotto and Chilli Con Carne.

“What fun it is to follow in this gastro-wizard’s footsteps as he fastidiously traces the cultural history of the ingredients ... [this] doesn’t detract from the reader’s pleasure in exploring the byways of Blumenthal’s capacious brain.” (Observer)

HESTON BLUMENTHAL (Berkshire) is one of the most progressive chefs of his generation. Entirely self-taught, Blumenthal has been awarded three Michelin stars for his restaurant, The Fat Duck, which has also been voted the Best Restaurant in the World in 2005. In 2006 he was given an Order of the British Empire.
