The Mysterious Adventures of Pauline Bovary
Pauline, BTW: Book Two
Edeet Ravel
Woe is Pauline, the teen drama queen of Edeet Ravel’s remarkable and uproariously funny The Thrilling Life of Pauline de Lammermoor. In this second book in the Pauline, btw series, our budding novelist sets out to write her next work of fiction.
Pauline can do melodrama like no one else. She also knows that it takes drama to sustain a good book—and so much happens at the start of grade eight. First, her best friend moves away to focus on her ice-skating career, then Pauline is dragged into the details of her divorced parents’ embarrassing love lives. When it seems like things can’t get any worse, she finds herself drawn to an attractive, self-described “neo-existentialist,” which threatens her relationship with her loyal boyfriend. How will Pauline ever write her way out of this one?
Edeet Ravel (Guelph, Ontario) was born on an Israeli kibbutz and grew up in Montreal. She is the author of four award-winning novels, including Ten Thousand Lovers, which was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award, and A Wall of Light, winner of the Canadian Jewish Book Award and a finalist for the Giller Prize and Canada/Caribbean Commonwealth Prize. Ravel also works as a peace activist and was a teacher for two decades.
