Combining stories and the results of a break-through sexuality survey, sex therapist Carol Rinkleib Ellison presents an antidote to current toxic ideas about women's sexuality. Using in-depth interviews with 100 women, aged 23-90, and a questionnaire completed by 2,632 others, the author identified patterns and conditions that allow women positive sexual growth. Topics covered include body awareness, sexual values, sexual boundaries, and early learning about love and sexuality. The author also explores erotic pleasure by looking at solo sex, the components of an orgasm, creating mutual pleasure, and achieving self-acceptance.
Carol Rinkleib Ellison, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and sex therapist. An assistant clinical professor and instructor at two campuses of the University of California, she is also the co-author of two college textbooks, Understanding Sexual Interaction and Understanding Human Sexuality.
