Marcia Reynolds

After years of coaching high-achieving women, master coach and personal development expert Marcia Reynolds started noticing something troubling: many of the clients with whom she worked were plagued by anxiety over their own restless responses to the world. These women were jumping jobs regularly, defining and redefining their relationship with the marketplace, constantly questioning their roles as wives and mothers and sisters. Dubbing her subjects "wander women," Reynolds found that the mentoring and personal development resources currently available don't address this audience's needs. They don't want to balance their lives; they want to find peace of mind in the chaos. They don't necessarily want to learn how to gain a seat in the boardroom; they want projects they can run with or businesses they can run on their own. The problem isn't their level of stress; it's about knowing who they are and what they want to accomplish in this one lifetime. Wander Woman explores how generational shifts and changing expectations of working women have fostered a new kind of restlessness among many. Through real-life stories she reveals the hopes and dreams, disappointments and challenges this group of high-achieving women are facing. And, most importantly, she provides exercises and development strategies for readers as they make their journey to peace and finally come to rest with a strong sense of identity and purpose.

Marcia is a true pioneer in the coaching profession and a past president of the International Coach Federation (ICF). She was one of the first 100 people to earn the designation of Master Certified Coach (MCC) and was instrumental in designing the certification and accreditation programs for the ICF. She teaches coaching skills to managers around the world, helps to design internal coaching programs and mentors many coaches both internal and external to organizations. Marcia is an experienced keynote speaker, presenting at both corporate and association conferences. In 2004, she earned the designation of Certified Speaking Professional from the National Speakers Association. She also runs an annual retreat on Keynote Development and provides speech coaching for many of her clients. Prior to starting her own business, Marcia developed training departments for a number of corporations. Her greatest success story came as a result of designing the employee development program for a semiconductor manufacturing company facing bankruptcy. Working with the executive staff, the company not only turned around, it became the top IPO in the country in 1993. Marcia worked for the company for another two years making sure employees stayed committed and productive throughout the changes that come from growth and success. Excerpts from my books and interviews have appeared in Good Housekeeping, Harvard Management Review, Health Magazine, Fitness, Shape, Self, Entrepreneur, Cooking Light, Christian Science Monitor, Cosmopolitan, The New York Times, LA Times, Arizona Republic, two airline magazines, ReadersDigest.com, CNN.com, More.com and features in the largest Business magazines in Moscow and Kiev. She has appeared on ABC World News, National Public Radio, and Japan Nightly News. Marcia's doctoral degree is in organizational psychology with a research emphasis on the personal factors that both hinder and help in the success of high-achieving women in today's corporations.
